The Community Foundation of Central Electric Cooperative board recently approved a grant of $10,000 to the Guthrie Fire – EMS Department. This grant will help equip ambulances with critically necessary treatment devices.
Guthrie ambulances currently contain separate, outdated devices to provide Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) or BiLevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) therapy, most commonly used to treat patients with congestive heart failure and respiratory emergencies. These devices have expired their use dates and replacement parts have become obsolete.
Grant funds will be used to purchase two new ventilators that contain both CPAP and BiPAP therapy capabilities. These ventilators help ambulance patients receive the best care during critical moments.
The Community Foundation of Central Electric Cooperative, a board independent of Central Electric Cooperative, administers a program called Operation Round Up®. The Community Foundation makes grants available to individual projects in the Central service area.
