Guthrie firefighter Drew Hymer had a target on his back as he entered the Firefighter Throwdown in Dallas after winning the competition in San Diego earlier this year.
Hymer put himself in position to claim back-to-back titles, but fell six points (15-21) from the top position to finish second overall.
Hymer was one of 100 athletes chosen from several applicants.

The Firefighter Throwdown combines firefighters with the Sport of Fitness in a challenging athletic competition that requires overall strength, endurance and a tough spirit.
Hymer, who has been doing CrossFit events since 2007, and the contestants competed in thruster ladder, snatch/front squat and box jumps to name a few.
The two-day event was held inside the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.
