The United Way of Logan County’s annual fundraising campaign is in full swing with several organizations, small businesses, and individuals pledging early gifts to the fundraising organization. Guthrie Public Schools is a proud supporter of United Way and just wrapped up their fundraising campaign in mid-September. The Bluejays set their 2011 goal at $5,000 and surpassed that goal by almost $200!
Helping the Bluejays meet their ambitious goal is Cynthia Lasyone, a special education teacher at Guthrie Upper Elementary School (GUES), and also a leadership donor to the 2011 United Way campaign. Leadership donors are those individuals, or couples, who pledge a gift of $500 or more to the annual fundraising drive. Cynthia has lived in Edmond for the past couple of years, but prior to that was a Logan County resident for five years. She has worked at GUES for three years.
When asked why she gives to the United Way of Logan County, Lasyone responded, “I think it is important to give back to and serve the community. I see the important contribution your agency [United Way of Logan County] makes.” Lasyone also noted that she has experienced, firsthand, the vital services provided by United Way Partner Agencies. One of her family members has received services from Logan Community Services.
Due to the generous gifts of donors like Lasyone, United Way of Logan County Partner Agencies are able to assist thousands of Logan County residents every year. You can contribute to United Way through your employer’s workplace campaign, or by mailing donations directly to P.O. Box 1602, Guthrie, OK 73044.
