“It doesn’t look like its going to be open anytime in the near future. Maybe, a year and a half out,” District 1 Commissioner Marven Goodman, who asked for the item to be placed on the agenda, said in his opening remarks.
District 2 Commissioner Mike Pearson quickly responded by saying he was informed and assured by the administrator of Mercy Hospital Logan County, Josh Tucker, that the surgery center would be up and running by the end of the contract (Sept. 2016).
Pearson reminded the audience that the hospital was not meeting health codes and was forced to shut down by the State.
“They really should have started on this several years ago,” Pearson said.
“We will see what happens. It’s hard to say. So far, it appears, they have violated the contract by shutting that down,” Pearson concluded with.
In a City of Guthrie video editorial, Guthrie Mayor Steve Gentling said the hospital is investing millions of dollars in the renovation of the operating room.
“Obviously, with that investment, they are planning on to staying here a long, long time,” Gentling said.
