The Guthrie Bluejays goes for win number five on the season when they host Guymon for the annual Homecoming game inside Jelsmsa Stadium on Friday night.
The Jays enter the game with a 4-0 record following last week’s road victory in Piedmont (37-9). Meanwhile, Guymon attempts to find their first win after an 0-4 start.
Guymon, who has won only seven of their last 54 games dating back to 2013, has managed only nine points in the first four games of the season with losses to Western Heights, Liberal (KS), Stratford (TX) and Carl Albert.
The Tigers’ football program has endured 16 straight losing seasons.
The district match up will be the 13th meeting between the two teams since 1976 and seventh straight season since Guymon entered Class 5A.
The Bluejays have won 10 of the 12 meetings, including eight straight.
Since 2001, Guthrie has compiled a 14-3 Homecoming record, including eight straight.
