The Territorial All Sports Museum turned into the executive conference room for the Board of the National Little Britches Rodeo Association (NLBRA). Steve Gentling, Mayor of Guthrie, welcomed the women and men of the Board to Guthrie and presented a key to the city and expressed the delight of Guthrie being a partner with the NLBRA.
“We are so pleased that the Board made the decision to relocate your national finals to the Lazy E and Guthrie for at least the next five years. It will be a pleasure to serve with you in making this premier youth rodeo event bigger and better every year!”
The NLBR will host more than 1,000 contestants ages 5-18. Overall, the National Little Britches Rodeo Association consists of members from 33 states who compete in 450 regional rodeos in order to make it to the finals here at the Lazy E, July 5-10, 2016.
Gentling noted, “The economic impact to the local area is fantastic. 1,000 contestants, thousands of parents and grandparents and thousands of additional fans and spectators will make their way to the Lazy E and Guthrie during the week of competition. There are certainly some logistical challenges involved with the influx of that many people, horses, trailers and vehicles, but the opportunities are wonderful We are confident that with appropriate planning and tremendous community support we will partner in an event unmatched in the NLRBA history!”
