Guthrie JeepFest event helps feed hungry families

The second annual Midwest JeepFest brings thousands of Jeep owners and enthusiasts back to Guthrie on Saturday, May 4. There’s no admission charge, but attendees are encouraged to donate to God’s Food Bank, a local charity offering food assistance to those in need throughout Logan County.

JeepFest is hosted by the John Vance Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM dealership at I-35.

God’s Food Bank will have a booth on site to accept donations, including cash and Paypal, or attendees can go online to donate at godsfoodbank.org.

“Our organization can feed a family six to eight meals a week for approximately $2,” said Ben Coffin, president of God’s Food Bank. “We have buying power through the regional food bank that allows us to purchase food for much less than the general public. Every amount given, large or small, will be used to help feed Oklahoma’s hungry.”

Attendees of Midwest JeepFest can expect to see hundreds of Jeeps, all ages and models, including many that are modified for extreme off-road use. Jeep Corporation will have the newest Jeep makes and models on-site, and a factory representative will be available to share the latest information about Jeep vehicles, technology and upgrades. Jeep accessories and aftermarket accessories will be shown and given away, as well as other prizes and specialty items. Additionally, a greatly enhanced off-road course has been constructed behind John Vance Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM. Attendees with four-wheel drive vehicles (approved) can drive the course for a $5 donation.

There will be plenty for the general public to enjoy too. Local TV station, News9, will have storm-chaser vehicles and on-air personalities available to answer questions about weather safety and how tornados are tracked.

At 2 p.m. the OU Sooner Schooner wagon, ponies and personnel will arrive for photos. Many food trucks will be present during the event, along with a special kids’ area featuring face painting, balloon clowns, children’s obstacle course, bounce-house and more. Logan County’s Young Marines will kick-off the event at 11 a.m. with a special color guard ceremony.

All present will have the opportunity to win a new Jeep Wrangler from John Vance Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM.  There is no cost or obligation to enter.
