Guthrie JROTC is inviting the community to take part in this year’s Wreaths Across America ceremony, set for Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Summit View Cemetery. The annual event honors the nation’s fallen heroes by placing remembrance wreaths on the graves of veterans.
The Guthrie JROTC unit, designated OK0114P, will once again lead the effort locally as part of the national Wreaths Across America program. The mission is simple but powerful: Remember the fallen, honor those who serve, and teach children the value of freedom.
The local committee is seeking both sponsors and volunteers. Community members can sponsor a wreath, volunteer to help lay them out on Wreaths Day, or attend the ceremony with family and friends.
There are almost 2,000 veterans at rest at Summit View. Guthrie has one of the largest concentrations of veterans for a city cemetery in the state.
“That’s a lot of wreaths to sponsor and a lot of veterans to honor,” Lt. Colonel Kyle Brede said.
“This is a chance for us to give back to those who gave everything for our country,” said a Guthrie JROTC representative. “Every wreath placed is a tribute to the service and sacrifice of our veterans.”
