At a recent Guthrie Noon Lions Club meeting the club presented United Way of Logan County President, Kristen Flury and Director Nikki Lile with a check for $1,000.
Lions Club President Steve Gentling noted, “The club has always been a loyal supporter of the United Way and the tremendous work that it does for those in need in Logan County. Our significant donation reflects the increasing needs in our community and county and also the trust that we have in the United Way as a steward of the monies that are given. Our motto is “service” and clearly this contribution provides direct services to many citizens of Guthrie and Logan County!”
The United Way of Logan County has five primary areas of focus: community preparedness, healthy citizens, independent living, strong families and successful kids.
In accepting the check Nikki Lile commented, “The United Way of Logan County, through our 11 partner agencies, provides a life line for many in the form of food, financial support for rents and utilities, disaster relief, shelter, youth development, and various therapeutic programs. The contributions that you, other organizations and numerous individuals give to the United Way become a very special gift that impacts one out of every five children and adults throughout our county. Thank you for this wonderful gift.”
The Guthrie Noon Lions Club meets every Friday at noon at Stacy’s Place, 113 W. Harrison. Each week, in addition to a wonderful meal and meaningful fellowship, a special guest presentation is made, generally focusing on a program, process or activity that directly affects our community and our lives.
Membership is open to all who want to make a difference to all who want “to serve”. For more information concerning Lions and the Guthrie Noon Lions Club please contact Richard Ireton, Membership Chair, at 282-3086.
