Lion President Cheryl Tarter recently passed the “torch of Leadership” on to John Wood as he assumed the duties and responsibilities of the Downtown Guthrie Noon Lions Club President for the 2014-15 year.
Incoming Lion President John Wood accepts the leadership gavel from Outgoing Lion President Cheryl Tarter as the leadership of the Guthrie Noon Lions Club transitions at a recent Installation of Officers Meeting.
Lion Cheryl noted, “it has been a pleasure to serve this Lions Club and this community for the past 12 months. Together we have accomplished a number of things which make the club and our community better and stronger. We continue to provide financial support to special eye care programs for the needy of our community, support local Boys State and Girls State participants, and have made significant donations to such worthy causes as United Way of Logan County, the Guthrie’s YMCA, the Territorial Sports Museum and college scholarships for Guthrie High School seniors. Being one of the largest Lions Clubs in the state with over 70 members, we are often seen as a model for other clubs in our region, and we are pleased to accept this leadership role”.
The Guthrie Noon Lions Club meets every Friday at noon at the First United Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall on Noble.
Each week, in addition to a wonderful meal and meaningful fellowship, a special guest presentation is made, generally focusing on a program, process or activity that directly affects our community and our lives.
Membership Chair, Lion Sylvia Ochs added, “Lions are women and men who want to make a positive impact on their community. Membership is open to all who want to make a difference, to all who want “to serve”. Join us and help make that motto happen again in 2014.”
