Oklahoma Territorial Museum will be honored in September from the Oklahoma Museums Association for their exhibit on world-famous traveling outlaw Elmer McCurdy. “The Life & Death of an American Outlaw: The Story of Elmer McCurdy.”
The exhibit came away with the top honors in the uner $5,000 budget. In addition, the Guthrie museum won best publication for the “Osage Hills Detective Stories” book that correlates with the exhibit.

The awards recognize outstanding achievement by museums and individuals throughout the state during the past 18 months. The competition is divided into project budget categories.
Museums will gather in Idabel, Okla. from Sept. 24-26 for the Oklahoma Museums Association’s (OMA) annual conference. The mission of the OMA is to assist Oklahoma museums with their efforts to educate, inform and entertain. The conference is one of the many programs and services which OMA offers to museums across Oklahoma.
The OMA Awards Program honors the excellence and quality of projects accomplished by institutional members. Also, the program recognizes individuals and groups whose contributions have impacted Oklahoma museums and the museum profession. OMA takes great pride in honoring the quality projects and dedicated individuals that make Oklahoma museums shine.
