The City of Guthrie was awarded with the honor of a Certified Healthy Oklahoma Merit Award.
The City of Guthrie along with 95 other cities in Oklahoma applied to receive the distinction of being a Certified Healthy Community. Among all applicants, Guthrie ranks in the top 25%. Cities are judged based on their success in the following categories 1) promoting healthy lifestyles, 2) nutrition accessibility and affordability, 3) promotion of community recreation and physical activity, 4) community health assessments/screenings and 5) promotion of health through education and awareness.
The City of Guthrie will be continuing its efforts to improve the health of our community in the New Year by holding the 2nd Annual 2012 Get Fit Guthrie Expo. It will be held on Thursday, January 12th at Guthrie City Hall in the City Council Chambers from 5:30pm until 7pm.
Get Fit Guthrie is a partnership with the Get Fit Logan County Coalition, as well as the City of Guthrie, Guthrie Chamber of Commerce, the Logan County Health Department, Guthrie YMCA, OSU Extension Logan County, and many other local organizations.
During the Expo, local organizations who deal in health, wellness, and fitness products or services will have information available; vendors include personal trainers and nutritionists to give information on keys to a healthy diet and how to get active.
This event is all for all ages and fitness levels and is FREE to the public. Exhibitors will provide product samples and door prizes. For more information about the Expo, call Courtney at (405) 282-3485.
