Lions President John Wood noted, “The Sports Museum is a wonderful gift to the citizens of Guthrie and the people of Oklahoma. It honors and recognizes the athletic achievements of Oklahomans in numerous sporting venues. The continued operation of this historical treasure is very important to all of us and for that reason we feel compelled to again contribute to its ongoing operation and success.”

Richard Hendricks, Museum Director, in accepting the check from President Wood commented, “The Territorial Capital Sports Museum has one of the finest collections of “Oklahoma Sporting Achievement” in the entire state. We have fascinating and historically significant sporting memorabilia from Oklahoma athletes: male and female; football, baseball, basketball, golf and rodeo and many other sporting activities. It is your museum honoring your people. This donation by the Guthrie Noon Lions Club is greatly appreciated!”

The Territorial Capital Sports Museum is located at 315 West Oklahoma in Guthrie. The hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday from 10AM to 4PM. If you are interested in gaining more information concerning the Museum or would like to schedule a tour you can call the museum at 405-260-1342 or check out their web site: www.territorialcapitalsportsmuseum.org.

The Guthrie Noon Lions Club meets every Friday at noon at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall at 102 E. Noble. Each week, in addition to a wonderful meal and meaningful fellowship, a special guest presentation is made, generally focusing on a program, process or activity that directly affects our community and our lives. Membership is open to all who want to make a difference, to all who want “to serve”.
