At a recent installation ceremony, Lions District Governor installed Daniel Gustafson as the new President of the Guthrie Noon Lions Club replacing Steve Gentling, the outgoing club President.
Gentling noted, “For the last 12 months it has been my privilege to lead this club and to be given the opportunity to serve its members and our community in a very special way. During this year we have continued to provide over $12,000 of financial aid to organizations and students throughout our community. We have paid for eye exams and eye glasses for many Guthrie citizens who could not afford these essentials.
Gentling continued, “We have begun new community projects such as our volunteer teams which deliver “Meals on Wheels” weekly and initiated participation in the city’s “Adopt – A – Street” program. Our members have presented wonderful weekly programs, focusing on issues or organizations which impact all of us and have created a very special milieu building relationships which will last a lifetime. All of this and we had fun. Thank you for the opportunity to serve!”
The Guthrie Noon Lions Club meets every Friday at noon at Stacy’s Place.
Each week, in addition to a wonderful meal and meaningful fellowship, a special guest presentation is made, generally focusing on a program, process or activity that directly affects our community and our lives. Membership Chair, Lion Richard Ireton added “Lions are women and men who want to make a positive impact on their community.
Membership is open to all who want to make a difference, to all who want “to serve”. For more information concerning Lions and the Guthrie Noon Lions Club please contact Richard Ireton at 282-3086.
