Guthrie officer arrests suspect driving stolen vehicle on S. Division

A Guthrie police officer got more than a speeder down Division St. on Thursday morning.

Just after 10 a.m., an officer was conducting traffic surveillance on Guthrie’s main street when he observed a black Mercedes speeding at 52 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 600 block of S. Division. The vehicle was also passing other cars in a no-passing zone, according to the police department.

The officer initiated the traffic stop at the intersection of Division St. and Harrison Ave., where he discovered the Mercedes had been recently reported stolen from Oklahoma City.

The driver identified as 27-year-old Ajanaku Nkosi was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Nkosi was promptly arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle.

The case remains under investigation, and Nkosi is expected to face formal charges later this week.
