The 2024 Class 5A-2 All-District football team was announced, and Guthrie Bluejays players earned well-deserved recognition, highlighting their impact on a highly competitive season.
The district once again demonstrated its strength as Guthrie and Carl Albert faced off in the state championship. The Titans secured their third consecutive title, marking the 19th championship in program history, which ties the state record held by Ada.
Top Honors
Kolten Carlock claimed Co-Offensive Player of the Year, sharing the accolade with Carl Albert’s Trynae Washington. Carlock’s contributions in key games underscored his role as a leader in Guthrie’s potent offense. On the defensive side, Alfred Officer was named Defensive Lineman of the Year, a testament to his dominance in the trenches. Eli Plagg and two others were listed as an Ironman Player of the Year.
First-Team Selections
The Bluejays were well-represented on the All-District First Team:
- Jacob Owens secured a spot on the offensive line, anchoring Guthrie’s offense with strength and precision.
- Malek Meyers earned a defensive line nod, showcasing his ability to disrupt opposing offenses.
- Kaden White was honored as a first-team linebacker, bringing energy and tenacity to the heart of the Bluejay defense.
- Carl Miller stood out as a first-team specialist, highlighting his versatility and reliability.
Second-Team and Honorable Mentions
Guthrie’s depth of talent was further acknowledged in the second-team and honorable mention categories.
- On the offensive line, Landon Gilbert and Semaja Morgan were named to the second team, contributing to Guthrie’s success in protecting the quarterback and opening running lanes.
- Justin Harper earned second-team recognition at linebacker, making key stops throughout the season.
- Greg Stevenson joined the second-team specialist group, adding depth to Guthrie’s special teams.
Several Bluejays also received Honorable Mentions, including Dylan Cherryington on the defensive line and John Junkersfeld on the offensive line, further showcasing the team’s strong presence across the board.
