Police Chief Damon Devereaux shared some of the numbers that occurred in 2013 for the Guthrie Police Department.
In 2013, the department saw an increase of 368 calls to service from a year ago with a total of 14,918. Dispatch saw a whopping 808 additional dispatch calls with 16,537. Those numbers also represent Guthrie EMS and Fire calls.
Also on the increase were citations and arrests.
Last year saw 408 more citations issued for a total of 2,205. The number arrested, or booked, increased by 10 to 599 subjects.
There was a deduction in 2013 and that came in vehicle accidents.
There were 240 total accidents compared to 276 in 2012. Devereaux says traffic enforcement helped reduce accidents.
The department purchased three new police units. With the current fleet, five Dodge Chargers have an average mileage of 75,000 miles and cost $19,569.25 to maintain in 2013. The 22 other vehicles, ranging in age between 1997 and 2010, cost $13,101.78 to maintain and the average mileage was 122,000.
A private donation gave the department a K-9 officer. In addition, five new officers were hired, including two School Resource Officers with the partnership with Guthrie Public, and one dispatcher.
Devereaux added the Gentleman of the Road Concert was a “success” with over 30,000 guests coming to town for the two-day music event.
