Guthrie Police Department opens enrollment for Citizen’s Police Academy

The Guthrie Police Department is inviting Logan County and Guthrie residents to participate in the next Citizen’s Police Academy, set to begin on January 16.

This engaging program offers citizens a behind-the-scenes look at policing in their community, with a mix of classroom instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on learning. Participants will explore a wide range of topics, including the police hiring process, field training programs, investigations, and the department’s reserve officer program.

The academy will also cover key operational areas such as responding to calls, SWAT team procedures, court systems, juvenile affairs, district court, animal control, dispatch and records operations, crime scene investigations, and lake patrol. Other highlights include victim advocacy services, community policing strategies, use-of-force protocols, simulation scenario training, and a day at the shooting range.

Residents interested in learning more about the academy or enrolling can email [email protected] for details.

This program is an excellent opportunity for community members to deepen their understanding of law enforcement and build stronger connections with local officers.
