The Guthrie Police Department FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) is stepping up to the plate for a good cause. The department will host its first-ever Charity Softball Tournament on Saturday, October 18, at Owen Fields in Guthrie.
All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Shop with a Cop program, which helps provide holiday gifts for children and families in need.
The action begins early with the first game scheduled for 8 a.m. and an opening ceremony at 9 a.m. Fans can expect more than just softball—there will also be food, drinks, music, and a home run derby for added fun.
Teams can register for $250 per team ($25 per person, with 12 players per team). For those wanting to test their power at the plate, the home run derby entry fee is $20 per person.
“This is a great opportunity for the community to come together, have some fun, and make a big difference in the lives of local kids,” said Detective Filemon Vasquez, who is coordinating the event.
The tournament will be held at Owen’s Park, 400 S. Academy Rd., Guthrie, OK. In case of bad weather, the rain date is set for October 19, 2025.
To register a team or learn more about the event, contact Detective Vasquez at 405-282-3535 or email Fvasquez@cityofguthrie.com. Checks can be made payable to Guthrie FOP Lodge 105, or payments can be made via PayPal at @GuthrieFOPLodge105.
