On a warm afternoon in Guthrie, one local police officer brought smiles and surprise to a group of children enjoying the splash pad at Mineral Wells Park.

While on patrol, Sgt. Mike Lanoy with the Guthrie Police Department took a moment to stop and connect with the community he serves. Seeing the kids laughing and playing in the water, Lanoy joined them with kindness and a handful of fun surprises.

The officer handed out police sticker badges and toy police cars to the children, sparking joy and a few wide-eyed smiles. It was a small gesture that carried a big impact, offering a reminder of the heart behind the badge.

“This sweet officer stopped by the splash pad at Mineral Wells and passed out cars and stickers to the kiddos. How sweet!!” a parent shared in a social media post that quickly garnered positive comments and appreciation from residents.

As Guthrie’s parks continue to be a gathering place for families during the summer months, moments like these help build positive relationships between law enforcement and the community—one splash and one smile at a time.
