The Guthrie Police Chief is requesting that the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigate the department’s activities in reference to a lawsuit filed against four officers and the City of Guthrie.
In a formal letter sent to FBI Special Agent James E. Finch on Wednesday, Police Chief Damon Devereaux stated, “Recently, allegations have been made toward Guthrie PD including racial profiling, harassment, abuse of police powers and conspiracy. We take these allegations very seriously and thus, request the FBI’s involvement to look into these claims and the issues surrounding them.”
Chief Devereaux is one of four police officers mentioned in the suit along with the City of Guthrie’s Board of Commissioners.
Fazal Khan, owner and operator of the Halftime Bar and Grill, and his attorney filed a lawsuit on May 8 for a junction in Logan County and intend to prosecute civil tort claims against the city and officers.
Kahn claims the city and their police officers have harmed his business and reputation by harassment, stalking, unlawful use of police force, presence to scare clientele and customers, false and malicious prosecution, intentionally taking from the bar the person hired to card people at the door and general defamation.
Chief Devereaux went on to say in the letter, “while we feel these accusations are without merit, it is impressive that a Police Department maintain the public trust and operate with the highest level of honor and integrity. It is for this reason we feel it important to have a neutral third party look into the accusations.”
City officials says they have done nothing wrong and want everything to be out in the open and be transparent.
“The City of Guthrie places the highest amount of emphasis on transparency and openness. You will have our cooperation in the investigation and we welcome you to look into any of the actions in our office,” Devereux said in the letter.

Faz has been “harassed” by every person he’s dealt with since before he opened that place. You can’t even go in that place without hearing some story from him about how he’s being screwed somehow. I got tired of hearing his BS and stopped going in there.
I’m just sick of people dumping on the PD and claiming how “corrupt” they are, when they have actually no idea who those guys are or what they do. Hell, if you go by the crap Hazlewood is spouting you’d think there’s already been a full blow investigation and every cop in town was charged for every major crime in America.
Go on a ride-a-long with a cop sometime and get a tiny taste of what they have to deal with everyday, then come back and talk about how terrible they are. You get a totally different perspective when you’re in the front seat instead of the back.

Nah he will be ok because he is gonna be in partnership with Bill, Plus his family is tight with the Police Dept….hell maybe they are in cahoots with the PD to run Fazal out of business so they can take over…just some more conspiracy to consider!
