The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) announced today that Guthrie Public Schools will be recognized for reducing diesel emissions and improving the state’s air quality.
The ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m., August 31, 2012. The event will take place at the administrative offices located at 802 East Vilas Avenue.
Guthrie Schools participated in the Oklahoma Clean Diesel Grant Program. Through this program, the school used approximately $64,264.00 in grant funds to retrofit 21 buses with model years 2002-2005 with auxiliary heaters. The Oklahoma Clean Diesel Grant Program also requires that participants implement a policy to limit the amount of time a school bus idles. The result is a reduction in diesel air emissions and an improvement in the state’s air quality.
