Guthrie Public Schools has received new guidance from the Oklahoma State Department of Health. The guidance necessitates revising the current protocols in place for the district students and staff.
The most significant change is a reduction in the amount of days students or staff must isolate with COVID symptoms or a positive COVID test from ten days to five days.
The five days that follow it is strongly recommended that the recovering person wear a mask to protect others from possible infection, according to health officials.
Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson says the changes are in effect immediately and are retroactive for students and staff currently in isolation.
This change from the Oklahoma State Department of Health follows recommended changes from the Centers for Disease Control that were issued on December 28.
If you have any questions about protocols in place at Guthrie Public Schools, you can email the school’s COVID email at [email protected].
