Guthrie Schools receive grant for Stop the Bleed kits

The Central Community Foundation board recently approved a grant of $1,003 to Guthrie Public Schools to purchase Stop the Bleed kits.

Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action. It is intended to encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. Participants are trained to stop bleeding by applying pressure and/or tourniquets.

Stop the Bleed kits include one combat application tourniquet, emergency bandage, pair of trauma shears, permanent marker, printed insert with instructions for use, two rolled compressed gauze dressings and two pair of gloves.

The Central Community Foundation is a charitable organization established by Central Rural Electric Cooperative to administer a program called Operation Round Up®. The Central Community Foundation makes grants available to individuals and organizations throughout Central’s service area from the money donated by Central members who choose to round up their electric bill to the nearest dollar each month..
