The Guthrie city council unanimously approved the next city manager who will be replacing Leroy Alsup who is set to retire at the end of April.
“The City of Guthrie is pleased to announce and welcome Eddie J. Faulkner as the next City Manager,” a press release from the City said.
Faulkner will begin his role with the City on April 17, and will officially assume his role on April 29.
Faulkner comes from the City of Catoosa where he served as the Business Development Director for the Catoosa Chamber of Commerce for two years prior to his tenure with the City of Catoosa.
During his four-year tenure with Catoosa, Faulkner served as the City Planner and Assistant City Manager.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northeastern State University and in 2022 he completed the Community Development Institute at the University of Central Arkansas.
Faulkner, who made two trips to Guthrie before being hired by Guthrie, has been recognized locally for his community involvement and achievements in the Catoosa Community as the 2020 City of Catoosa Employee of the Year, 2022 Catoosa Citizen of the Year and 2022 NextGen Under 30 Recipient for Policy and Public Service.
Alsup will be retiring on April 28 after serving in that capacity over the last six years since February 6, 2017. Alsup stated that he believes that Faulkner will be an asset to the Guthrie Community from day one, and by working with the current department head leadership team and community partners.
