The top-ranked Guthrie BlueJays are on the road Thursday as they set their eyes on win number eight of the season with a Halloween showdown on the horizon.

L'liott CurryGuthrie and Southeast will play their district match-up at Douglass High School’s Moses F. Miller Stadium. The game was moved to the new venue prior to the season after it was confirmed Southeast’s stadium (Taft Stadium) would not be ready to play as it continues to go under renovations. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

The Jays (7-0) will be huge favorites over the Southeast (1-6) program who enters the game on a four-game losing streak.

The Spartans lone win on the year came back in week three over U.S. Grant (36-21) and have won just 12 games (12-45) in the past six seasons.

Southeast is led by dual-threat quarterback Markel Dozier.

Meanwhile, Guthrie looks to stay on pace with their 22nd consecutive win in a week before hosting Carl Albert in a game that may decide a district title and possibly hosting one or two playoff games.

The Jays will bring their high-power offense that averages 364 yards of offense 43 points per game and a defense allowing only 7.4 points.

Senior linebacker Beau Davis leads the team in stops with 69.

Not to be over-shadowed, defensive end L’liott Curry has piled up 37 tackles, including 18 tackles for loss, 15 quarterback hurries and a team leading 9 sacks.

Douglass High School is located at 900 N Martin Luther King Ave. The game can be heard on Triple Play Sports Radio 105.1 FM and streamed world-wide on Guthrie Sports Page and Guthrie News Page. The pre-game show begins at 6:30.
