T-shirts around downtown Guthrie read “Reload and Repeat” for the 2012 Guthrie football squad. The reloading part looked exceptional well in the season opening win over Duncan. The repeat part will have to wait several more weeks.
Top-ranked Guthrie jumped out to a 22-0 first quarter lead en route to a 43-0 final over the 7th ranked Duncan Demons. Guthrie continues to have Duncan’s number. In the past three season openers the Jays have three wins with three shut-outs (104-0).

However, it was not all great news on Friday as junior stand-out Kai Callins injured his left knee on what would have been his fourth touchdown in th first half, but was called back on a penalty.
Callins, who was in short and crutches on the sideline in the second half, will go further tests in the next few days as to the extent of the injury.
Prior to the injury, Callins was a one-man show with three touchdown scores, including scoring runs of 61 and 43 yards. Callins was able to get th corner to allude tacklers and then made several moves past the secondary to speed into the end zone.
He finished with 96 yards rushing on just four carries and added a receiving score of 15 yards to cap off his F&M Bank Player of the Game performance.
Not to be outshined, senior quarterback Bryan Dutton was equally impressive by finishing 9-of-12 passing for 151 yards with two passing scores and an 11-yard second half score.
Senior JT McFadden added three rushes for 61 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown run while junior Donovan Jordan hauled in three catches for 59 yards and a score.
The Guthrie offense amassed 390 yards of offense, including 239 yards rushing behind a rebuilt offensive line. With two scrimmages and in their first game, the O-line has had solid outings each time out.
Duncan offensively had a tough go especially in the first half against the stingy and well-known defensive discipline. The Demons finished with 108 yards of offense with a majority of that coming in the second half.
Duncan at times were their own worst enemy with a few scoring opportunities going by the waste side with turnovers. In total, Duncan fumbled five times and lost three of them.
Guthrie will travel to Ponca City next week. The Wildcats were taken down 34-14 in their season opener in Sapulpa.
