The Guthrie High School softball team earned a crucial 10-6 district victory over El Reno on Monday.

The win improved the Lady Jays to 11-10 on the season and extended their winning streak to five straight games. More importantly, the victory keeps Guthrie in a tight three-way tie with Midwest City and Carl Albert in the district standings.

Carl Albert currently leads the district at 7-1, with Guthrie and Midwest City tied at 6-1. Two of those teams will earn the right to host regionals, while the third-place team will likely travel to Elgin for postseason play.

The Lady Jays face a pivotal week ahead as they travel to Carl Albert on Tuesday in hopes of avenging a 14-4 loss earlier this season.

Later in the season, Guthrie will also visit Midwest City on Sept. 29, where they previously pulled off an 8-inning walk-off win thanks to a clutch single from junior Savannah Ingle. Related article: Savannah Ingle delivers walk-off to keep Lady Jays in regional hunt
