Guthrie strolls to easy Homecoming win

Guthrie scored early and often in the annual homecoming game for their second win of the season.

The Jays scored three touchdowns in the game’s first 7:45 en route to a 58-0 win over Northwest Classen to snap a two-game losing skid.

Following this article is the video replay of the game and post game interviews with head coach Kelly Beeby, associate head coach Scott Mick and senior Troy Branson.

Senior running back Gavin Brison finished the night with three touchdowns and 88 yards on 10 carries.

Guthrie played with a short field the entire evening and finished with 292 yards on just 30 snaps.

The defense pitched their first shut-out of the year and kept the Knights to negative yards for most of the night before finishing with just 63 yards of offense.

Special teams made an impression as well with five punt returns for 147 yards, including a 41-yard touchdown by CJ Ward.

The Bluejays are now 14-3 in homecoming games dating back to 2001.

Guthrie, who travels to Lawton Eisenhower next week, improves to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in district play while Northwest falls to 1-5.
