Mike Simpson, Superintendent of Guthrie Public Schools, has been named the 2016 OASA District #3 Superintendent of the Year by the Oklahoma Association of School Administrators (OASA).
Dr. Simpson is one of twenty superintendents selected by his peers for this award from across the state. These administrators, and the District Assistant Superintendent/Central Office Administrator finalists, will be honored by colleagues at the OASA awards banquet on Wednesday, June 8 on the eve of the annual Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration (CCOSA) Summer Conference. The conference will be held June 9-10 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center in Norman.
“We congratulate Superintendent Simpson for being selected by his colleagues as the outstanding Superintendent in their OASA District,” Dr. Pam Deering, Executive Director of OASA stated. “It is an honor to be nominated and selected by your peers for your leadership, service, and contributions to the profession,” Deering added.
Dr. Simpson has been an educator and coach for over 20 years. Simpson has served as Guthrie’s superintendent for the past four years. He previously served as the assistant superintendent for Ponca City Schools, and director of athletics and activities at Stillwater.
Upon learning of this award, Dr. Simpson stated, “It’s truly an honor to be recognized by peers for accomplishments. They know the trials and tribulations that come with the job like no other and this is very humbling.”
Simpson was selected as the 2016 Citizen of the Year for Guthrie, OK by the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce.
