Guthrie tennis finds success at Booker T Washington, Duncan tournaments

Jaxson Mayer (L) and Carson Olmsted (R) are off to a strong start in 2026.

The Guthrie High School tennis teams turned in strong performances across multiple tournaments, highlighted by a doubles championship earlier this week.

On March 13, the Bluejays competed at the Booker T Washington Tennis Tournament, where Carson Olmsted and Jaxson Mayer led the way with a runner-up finish at No. 1 doubles. The duo fell to Cascia Hall in the finals, 6-4, 6-4.

The Lady Jays also posted solid results in the tournament.

Haven Hudson and Hollie Mitchell placed fourth at No. 1 doubles, while Lola Brown finished fourth at No. 1 singles. Teagan Duehning took sixth at No. 2 singles, and the team of Makayla Blake and Kyla Huskey placed sixth at No. 2 doubles.

Guthrie’s momentum carried into Monday, when Olmsted and Mayer captured the No. 1 doubles title at the Duncan Tournament, defeating Carl Albert in the championship match.
