The Guthrie Lady Jays golf team qualified last week for this year’s 5A state tournament. On Monday, three Bluejays qualified for the state’s biggest high school golf tournament.
Both teams hosted regionals with the girls playing on Aqua Canyon and the boys on Augusta National.
The Lady Jays, who finished tied for fourth at regionals, will play at Dornick Hills Golf and CC in Ardmore starting on Wednesday and finishing on Thursday. Tee time is set for 10:08 a.m.
Team members include Rylin Wells, Teagen Reyes, Maley Beeby, Tatum Brown, and Audrey Allen.
In just a nine-hole regional due to weather, Wells, Allen, Brown, and Reyes, each shot a 49. Beeby was just five strokes back of her teammates.
For the Bluejays, they will take on Territory Golf and CC in Duncan on May 8 and 9.
Despite not qualifying as a team, the Jays will be represented by Justin Green, Devin Frey, and Britt Drake.
In his personal best rounds of golf, Green finished 15th overall in the field by shooting a 79 and 76.
Devin Frey finished 24th overall with rounds of 82 and 81, while Drake took 27th overall with scores of 86 and 79.
The Lady Jays are coached by Jason Rice and the Bluejays by Ric Meshew.
