Guthrie Veterans Day Parade set for Tuesday, November 11

Guthrie will once again come together to honor local heroes during the annual Veterans Day Parade on Tuesday, November 11.

The community event will begin at 10:20 a.m. at Golden Age Nursing Home and conclude at Honor Park around 11 a.m.

The parade will feature the Guthrie High School JROTC, Band, Choir, and FFA leaders, who will open the ceremony at Golden Age with a series of tributes. The choir will perform the National Anthem, JROTC members will recite the Cadet Creed, and the band will perform Taps in honor of all who have served.

Following the opening ceremony, participants will march down Oklahoma Avenue, turning left on 2nd Street toward Honor Park for the community’s Veterans Day ceremony.

At Honor Park, a guest speaker will address attendees. The GHS Band will again perform the National Anthem, and the Choir will sing the Armed Forces Service Medley before the ceremony concludes with Taps.

After the parade and ceremony, the Friends of the Territorial Museum will host a lunch for veterans on the second floor of the Territorial Museum. All veterans are invited and encouraged to attend.
