A Guthrie High School student is stepping into a major leadership role at the state level.
Demarcus Officer was elected to serve as Vice President of Development for Oklahoma FCCLA during the organization’s annual state convention held at the Arvest Convention Center in Tulsa.
Officer was one of 10 students selected to the state officer team at the conference, which brought together more than 4,600 high school students from across Oklahoma.
Oklahoma FCCLA State Adviser Brittani Phillips said the newly elected officers will have opportunities to grow as leaders in the months ahead.
“The state officers will be responsible for leading the Oklahoma delegation throughout the next year as we grow and reach even more FCS students across the state,” Phillips said. “And they will also set goals for themselves and Oklahoma FCCLA for the 2026-2027 school year.”
Officer and the rest of the state team will attend leadership camps this summer as they prepare for their roles.
Oklahoma FCCLA, founded in 1946 as Future Homemakers of America, now serves more than 28,000 members across over 400 chapters statewide. The organization focuses on developing leadership skills and preparing students for success in families, careers, and communities.
FCCLA is one of seven CareerTech student organizations, alongside groups such as FFA, Business Professionals of America, HOSA, DECA, Technology Student Association, and SkillsUSA.
