The City of Guthrie has released its latest Sales and Use Tax report, which reflects collections from May and was distributed in July. The data shows a slight dip in monthly revenue compared to the same time last year but highlights positive year-to-date growth in sales tax collections.
For July, the city received $756,870.84 in sales tax revenue, which is 0.2 percent lower than July 2024, a decrease of $1,263 from the previous year’s total of $758,134. Despite the monthly drop, Guthrie remains ahead in its year-to-date collections, totaling $7,412,184. That figure is 2 percent above the same period in 2024 and 3 percent higher than projected, exceeding expectations by $245,518.
Guthrie applies a 3.75% city sales tax on goods and services, which is divided to support several important sectors: 2% goes to the general fund, 1% to Public Works, and 0.75% to capital improvement projects. Including the 4.5% state sales tax and 0.75% Logan County sales tax, the total sales tax rate within city limits is 9%.
Use tax collections for July came in at $90,124.64, showing a 20 percent decline from July 2024’s total of $112,427. The year-to-date use tax total stands at $1,000,686, which is 8 percent below last year’s pace and 2 percent under the city’s projection of $1,018,213.
