Halftime Bar and Grill owner arrested in Guthrie

A local bar owner was arrested Tuesday evening by the Guthrie Police Department and pleads he is not guilty of the crime that he is accused of.

Fazal Kahn, owner and operator of the Halftime Bar and Grill, was taken into custody for disorderly conduct in the 900 block of North Wentz following a dispute with a convenience store owner.

Kahn told Guthrie News Page that he posted a bond of $200, despite not receiving a receipt. He has pleaded not guilty and has a municipal court date set for Nov. 7 at 2:30.

Guthrie Police were dispatched to Tony’s Quick Stop for an unruly customer. The store owner advised the two responding police officers that Kahn came into the store and started cussing at him. He notify officers that he did not want Kahn inside his store.

Kahn tells Guthrie News Page that he went inside the store with a friend to get some candy and that the owner started cussing at him and at one time attempted to hit him.

According to a police report, Kahn, who once was an employee for the convenience store owner, became loud while waving his arms when told he was going to be given a trespass warning. The report went to on to say Kahn told officers something was wrong because this was the second time a business has given him a trespass warning.

Kahn claims he was not given a reason why the trespassing warning was given to him. In the report, the arresting officer told Kahn the owner has a right to refuse business to anyone.

Kahn, 40, of Guthrie, is alleged to have gotten louder while continuing to wave his hands. The officer, who says he was in striking distance of the waving hands, requested him to stop and to settle down.

A second officer reported the arresting officer took his hand and pushed Kahn’s hand down. At that time Kahn told the officer not to touch him.

The officer then told Kahn that he was then under arrest and was taken into custody.

Kahn, however, said the arresting officer was behind the second officer and when he started to point toward the store the arresting officer made contact with him.

Kahn went on to say when he was handcuffed, the arresting officer scratched his expensive watch with the cuffs.

In May, Kahn filed a suit against the City of Guthrie, including four Guthrie police officers, claiming the city and their police officers harmed his business and reputation by harassment, stalking, unlawful use of police force, presence to scare clientele and customers, false and malicious prosecution, intentionally taking from the bar the person hired to card people at the door and general defamation.

Former City Manager Matt Mueller and Police Chief Damon Devereaux requested the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations to investigate the police department after the lawsuit was announced. Both agencies concluded that an investigation was not warranted.

Kahn dropped the injunction months later, but now says he is opening it back up sometime next week.

    • So crooked your too scared to put your name on here I see. Khan is a joke. The man does not have one honest bone in his body. Look at OSCN and see how many people he has tried to screw over. The only thing harassing him, is poor business management, and the ability to speak clear English.
