The Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport has begun the process of searching for an airport manager following the announcement from current Airport Manager Justin Heid. On Tuesday, Heid informed the Guthrie city council that he has accepted a similar position in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
Heid, who was named Oklahoma Airport Manager of the Year in 2014, informed the council during a workshop meeting prior to giving an annual report on the airport.
Heid came to the City of Guthrie in April 2012. His final day is scheduled for July 6.
“Speaking for the council, we greatly appreciate your leadership and management over the years that you have been here,” Mayor Steven Gentling told Heid. “I understand the opportunities that are there for you and your wife to move.”
In addition, to being named manager of the year, Heid played an instrumental part in the airport earning the recognition of Airport of the Year in 2014. Related story: Airport and manager earn top annual awards
“It’s a phenomenal place to be (Guthrie) and a phenomenal place to work. I think there will be no problem finding candidates for this position,” Heid said.
The cities of Guthrie and Edmond joined a 50-50 reimbursing partnership in 2004.
