A routine traffic stop on Interstate 35 turned into a high-speed pursuit through Guthrie’s busy roads on Sunday afternoon.
A Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper made a traffic stop just after 3 p.m. at mile marker 159 on a white, Grand Cherokee Jeep. After the trooper visited with the female driver from Garden City, Kansas, he went back to his vehicle and as he was about to step out the driver took off and the pursuit was on.
The suspect, with a Kansas tag, traveled down I-35 before exiting at mile marker 153 (south Guthrie exit) and made her way through town on Division with speeds at 100 mph.
Guthrie Police and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office assisted the trooper with the pursuit. Officers were able to surround the vehicle at Division and Cleveland where she was taken into custody.
Nancy Elaine Teetzen, 62, was transported to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were she was booked and charged with four counts including, endangering others while attempting to elude a police officer, assault and battery on a police officer, following to closely and speeding (86 mph in a 70 mph zone).
Teetzen was pulled over for speeding and following to close and was likely only going to receive a citation before fleeing.
Yup, was right there at the Laundromat when it all happened. Her car was literally smoking! She also sounded drunk. Glad they got her off the road.
