Logan County fire crews responded to a house fire on late Saturday evening that has now left a family of eight without a home.
The Guthrie Fire Department, along with Sooner, Oak Cliff and Woodcrest fire departments, were dispatched to a fully-involved home at around 11:15 p.m. to the 3200 block of Family Circle, near the intersection of Pine and Prarire Grove. The crews remained on scene until 2:45 a.m.
A family member, who lives nearby, tells Guthrie News Page that he heard a loud explosion and stepped outside to see the home in flames. The family inside was able to quickly escape, but was forced to watch their home burn to the ground.
The home, that housed six children, was under construction as the family was combing two single wide trailer homes into one. A friend says the home was not insured.
Family members were seen given blankets, clothes and support for the family.
Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow believes the cause of the fire may have been started by an electrical issue on the north end of the home.
The fire comes just months after a nearby mobile home caught fire. Related story: Mobile home fills with smoke; home appears to be a total loss

My family appreciates all of your donations. And while clothes and sundries are a blessing, right now they need a home. They have only tonight left in the motel that the Red Cross has so generously provided them. Please help us.
