Homeland announces store closures, consolidations; Guthrie location not affected

Homeland Stores announced a series of store closures and consolidations across Oklahoma this week as part of a broader effort to strengthen the company’s future operations.

Employees were notified of the changes on Wednesday, with a public announcement following on Thursday.

According to the company, several locations will close over the next 45 days, including stores in Edmond, Norman, and Lawton. The Lawton closure includes a CashSaver location. However, the CashSaver Guthrie will not be impacted by the changes.

In addition to closures, the company plans to consolidate select stores, with some United Supermarket locations transitioning to Homeland stores and a grand reopening planned for July 1 in those communities.

In a statement, the company said the decision was part of “important steps to strengthen our company and better serve our communities,” adding that the moves were not easy given the long history many of the stores have in their respective towns.

“We’ve made the decision to close, consolidate, and market select stores for sale,” the company said. “Some of these locations have been part of their communities for years, and we’ve worked hard to keep them open as long as possible.”

Company officials emphasized that the changes are aimed at building a stronger foundation moving forward, focusing on fresh food, value, and community presence.

Homeland also stated it will work to place affected employees into open positions within the company whenever possible.
