Today, T-Mobile announces Guthrie as one of its latest 25 Hometown Grant recipients. The $50,000 grant will go toward renovating the Hope House, a temporary haven for families and individuals, including updates to living resources like laundry services, bathrooms and storage, and an updated surveillance system, security doors and fencing to help ensure the safety of residents.
The project was submitted by Frankie Garcia-Leon, administrator of Hope House Guthrie, an organization aimed to provide shelter and resources to those that need it in the community.
“On behalf of the city of Guthrie, Oklahoma and our citizens, thank you T-Mobile for your very generous grant given to the Neighborhood Hope House of Guthrie,” said Steve Gentling, Mayor of Guthrie. “This organization provides a wonderful service to the homeless population of our community and region. It has made a considerable impact on the lives of men, women and children who are directly and indirectly impacted by homelessness and the multiple factors contributing to that unfortunate circumstance. The Hope House has become a significant partner in this community and your grant will enable the enhancement of their facilities and programs in caring, feeding and housing those who are in need. T-Mobile, through this grant, you are making a positive effect on our community.”
Launched in April 2021, T-Mobile Hometown Grants is a $25 million, five-year initiative to support the people and organizations who help small towns across America thrive and grow by providing funding to kickstart vital community development projects. Since the program’s start, T-Mobile has given over 10 million dollars to 225 communities across 42 states. Across Oklahoma, the T-Mobile Hometown Grants program has provided more than $300,000 in funding across seven cities, including Guthrie.
The Hope House, located at 1916 E. Perkins Ave., is a non-profit facility that provides shelter for those in the community who are homeless. Click this link if you would like to donate to the Hope House.
