Erin Dorio with the Logan County Election Board says early indications show today’s presidential primary may be one of the biggest turnouts in sometime.
Dorio reports 25,530 registered voters in Logan County to go along with an estimated 5,000 inactive voters. Inactive voters are any person that remains an inactive for two consecutive general election cycles without voting or without making some update to his or her voter registration. By law those persons are automatically deleted.
Of the 25,000-plus registered voters, Republicans make up more than the majority with 14,365 (56.2 percent) and followed up with 7,719 Democrats (30.2 percent) and 3,446 Independents (13.4 percent).
According to the Oklahoma State Board Election, the largest presidential primary was in 2008. That year, 417,000 Democrats voted and 335,000 Republicans casted their vote.
Polls are open until 7 p.m. Guthrie News Page will have the results as they come in.
