The Guthrie football program pulled off another convincing win over a 5A opponent with a 41-7 win over Deer Creek to begin district play. The Jays started the season with a 25-0 win over highly ranked Duncan. Both wins came inside Jelsma Stadium.
Here is how the Jays opponents did in Week 4
Duncan 55, Capitol Hill 0
Duncan took the opening kick and stormed down 55 yards on five plays to begin the night where the Demons did not need much from their starters. The Demons improved to 2-2 and 1-0 in 5A-2 district play.
Ponca City 14, Enid 40
Enid picked up their fifth straight win over the Wildcats despite trailing early. The Plainsmen got a boost on the ground with Jonathan Burton’s 143 yards and Cody Lee’s season-high 73 yards.
Ada 41, Southeast 0
The Southeast Spartans had people talking this week as one of the two undefeated teams in Class 5A, but the Cougars put a stop to the talk by blowing out the Spartans and pitching a shut-out. Ada improves to 2-2 on the season.
Noble 7, El Reno 27
Noble hit the score board first, but the Indians put 27 unanswered points on the board to go 1-0 in district play. Despite 12 penalties, El Reno managed 195 rushing yards. El Reno improves to 2-2 while remains winless at 0-3.
Carl Albert 50, Western Heights 6
It was expected and it happened as Carl Albert rolled their way to their third win of the year. The Titans erupted for 30 points in the second quarter. Five different Titans scored to send the Jets to an 0-4 start.
