Two men have been arrested in connection of a burglary of a Logan County convenience store and now law enforcement believes they have strong evidence that connects them to prior burglaries.
In the early parts of Wednesday morning, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to Petty’s gas station, located at 12001 S. Douglas Blvd., for an alarm call. Once deputies arrived they saw the store had been burglarized with the front door lock stripped out.
“This method of entry is consistent with numerous other burglaries occurring in the area over the last few months,” Chief Deputy Richard Stephens said.
The store’s owner was able to replay the surveillance system and produce a video of the suspects and their vehicle. Immediately, deputies responded to other convenience stores. The other recent burglaries had usually resulted in multiple stores being burglarized in succession. The store owner is now looking at sites like riotglass.com for new ways to protect the store from being burgled again.
A deputy located a small light-colored vehicle that matched the descriptions from previous burglaries. The subjects and their vehicle matched the general description of the burglars (clothing, distinctive gloves and bandanas) that had just left the burglary on Douglas Blvd.
Joshua Dallas McIntire, 25, and David William Coleman, 22, were arrested on charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of an offensive weapon while in the commission of a felony, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
“The investigation of these two subjects and their connection to prior burglaries is on-going. They are a strong match to prior video surveillance and shoe impressions recovered in prior burglaries are consistent with shoes that one of the suspects was wearing when arrested,” Stephens said.
