Guthrie jumped out to an 8-0 start and never looked back with a 44-29 win over Piedmont to take the two-game series this season.
All five Guthrie starters had a bucket within five minutes of the game and was led by sophomore guard Kai Callins with a team high 14 points inside the Guthrie High School gymnasium.
In the first meeting of the season, Piedmont was 8-of-30 from the free throw line in part of the Jays 14-point win on December 16th and this go round the Wildcats went 12:48 without a field goal. During the drought, the Jays outscored the Wildcats 21-7.
Guthrie made eight of their first 9 field goals. Piedmont used two time-outs in the first quarter to try to slow them down.
The BlueJays will participate in the Jenks/Union Tournament beginning on Thursday when they take on Midwest City at 5:30. The two squads met in December in the first round of the Del City/Midwest City Tournament with the Bombers collecting the 80-60 win.
