The Guthrie Junior High football program continues to build their own program, much like their older counter parts at the high school, and have announced some important dates upcoming.
Junior High football will have equipment check out on August 9th and 10th.
8th grade head coach Jeff Ball said August 9th and 10th will be for equipment check out for both the 7th and 8th grade teams. Check out times will be from 9am to noon each day at the Junior High.
The first organized practice for the Junior Jays will be August 11th at Faver Alternative School with a start time of 8am and lasting until 10:30. The team will work-out in shirt, shorts, and helmets.
Practice will continue on the 12th and 13th with the same times and locations.
August 14th, Saturday, will be picture day, at Jelsma Stadium, in the morning time and later that evening will be the annual Meet the Jays night at Jelsma.
Ball said he hopes to get one scrimmage in before the start of the season and that a schedule has not been released yet.
Ball returns as the head coach of the 8th grade team as does Jason Rice as the 7th grade head coach. Casey Porter, David Washington, Bryan Couch, and perhaps a coach to be named soon.
