Emporia State is a Division II school in Kansas.

With his parents (Reggie and Cristy) to his side, the future Hornet held back some of emotions as he addressed the packed high school library.

Callins, who was named the MVP in both the 2011 and 2013 state championship games, capped off a stellar BlueJay career with 1,736 yards rushing and 31 rushing scores in his senior campaign, including four in the Class 5A state championship. He added 203 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions while adding a passing score.

Callins spoke last month on the recruiting process and his career at Guthrie on the weekly Guthrie News & Sports Report.

  1. Was Callins named the MVP in the 2011 game? I was thinking it was Landry Chappell or Luke Davis or Bryan Dutton or John Clark or Zonte Veasley or Donavan Jordon maybe Conner Howard?
