OKLAHOMA CITY — The Kickapoo Turnpike transitioned to cashless tolling Tuesday morning. Motorists will now use PIKEPASS or PlatePay, eliminating toll booths and coin machines from the 21-mile turnpike in Eastern Oklahoma County.
PlatePay helps create a free flow of traffic and a safer, more efficient means of travel on the Kickapoo and John Kilpatrick turnpikes. Cameras at these turnpike toll plazas photograph a vehicle’s license plate, enabling the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority to send the vehicle’s registered owner an invoice.
The Kickapoo Turnpike becomes the second Oklahoma toll road to fully transition to PIKEPASS/PlatePay after the John Kilpatrick Turnpike in Oklahoma City went cashless in July 2021. The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority will transition remaining turnpikes to cashless by the end of 2024.
The Kickapoo Turnpike fully opened in January 2021 and was part of OTA’s Driving Forward initiative approved in 2016. The turnpike links I-44 to I-40, provides relief to traffic congestion in the Oklahoma City metro area, and provides Eastern Oklahoma County economic growth opportunities and safe, efficient access points.
PIKEPASS remains the most cost-effective way to travel Oklahoma turnpikes, providing customers the lowest toll rate. To open a PIKEPASS account, visit PIKEPASS.com. Learn more about PlatePay at PlatePay.com.
