The Guthrie Lady Jays softball has had its ups and downs this season en route to their current 16-16 season.
After winning seven straight games earlier this month, Guthrie dropped four consecutive games to highly ranked opponents before ending the losing streak with a home win.
Guthrie, who is ranked No. 14) took set backs to 4th ranked Piedmont (4A), 12th ranked Perry (3A), 4th ranked Carl Albert (5A) and 8th ranked Shawnee (5A). In those games, the Lady Jays managed just two runs while allowing 41 runs scored.
The team got backed to their winning ways on Friday with a 11-1 win over 21st ranked Northwest Classen on their home turf.
This week will wrap up the final week of the regular season and it will begin with two tough opponents in 4th ranked Carl Albert (Monday) and 10th ranked Deer Creek (Tuesday) before ending the week with Western Heights (Thursday) and McGuinness (Friday).
Head coach Lee Linsenmeyer’s Lady Jays are currently in third place in the 5A-1 district with an 8-3 record and appear will be headed to either Duncan or Lawton MacArthur for regionals next week when they are announced.
Deer Creek (19-8) and Western Heights will come to Guthrie with Senior Night being played on Thursday.
