The Guthrie High School Lady Jays tennis team finished their season at the state tournament. The No. 1 doubles team finished with medals.
Each of the team members qualified for State by finishing runner-up at regionals.
At regionals, Kenzie Hardesty placed fourth at No. 2 singles, Rylee Tobin and Jillian Minter placed second at No. 1 doubles, Hollie and Aspen Mitchell placed second at No. 2 doubles.
“So proud of these girls and how hard they have worked,” head coach Mary Hudson said.
At State, Emma Poupard, Jillian Minter, Aspen Mitchell, Rylee Tobin, Kenzie Hardesty, Hollie Mitchell not only qualified for the final tourney of the season, but all advanced to the second day.
Jillian Minter and Rylee Tobin advanced to the semifinals and guaranteed themselves a medal.
Tobin and Minter finished fourth with a long three-set match against Carl Albert, that ended after lightning and rain delays.
“We even had a light delay as the lights went out at 10:20 p.m. and took a while to come back on,” Hudson explained.
Aspen and Hollie Mitchell placed seventh at No. 2 doubles defeating Riverfield in straight sets.
Guthrie Junior High Tennis
The GJHS tennis team won the Ponca City Tennis Tournament with Lola Brown placing first at No. 1 singles, Haven Hudson placed first at No. 2 singles, Teagan Duehning and Taylor Shipley placed second at No. 1 doubles and Kinley Nelson and Lania Woodard placed second at No. 2 doubles.
